Have you ever read an inspirational novel or followed someone you admire on social media and listened to their stories of how they got to a certain point and thought, man, I wish I had known of or followed her then because I could have TOTALLY related? Well that’s why I’m here.

I am here for the Mama who is just starting out, who is in the madness of late-night feedings or wet toddler sheets. For the stay at home Mama struggling with confidence and lack of adult contact. For the working Mama who is up with her darlings during the night and thinking 20 steps ahead for their day, packing lunches, clothes, and diapers, planning pickups, and drop offs and pumping every 2 hours in the "privacy" of a bathroom stall at work. For the woman afraid to even become a Mama because of this image of perfection or destruction being promoted to her. I am here to wade in the trenches with you and ride the waves of the hurricane that is raising children.

I have sat in the darkness of my child’s nursery thinking that there is no way my friend, who's children are always clean, matching, and smiling, would've yelled at her kids like I did that day, or how my mother would never have put her crying child in the safety of his crib so that she could go take a deep breath before handling the situation. And what I’m here to say is that your idol, with her perfect Instagram, HAS yelled at her kids like that. Your Mom would RECOMMEND those deep breaths. We are too isolated, too self-deprecating, and way too judgmental of ourselves and others.

Before you compare yourself to someone's Instagram life, consider that the lives of the women who inspire us don’t necessarily even look like ours. I can’t afford to stay at home and have a cleaning service or a nanny, and I’m sure most of you can’t either.

I am here to show you what I am able to do with my time as a full time stay at home Mama and show you what I consider to be my real life. I'm here to share my experiences in the hopes that they look a little bit like yours. I'm here with the hope of helping you breathe a little lighter, sleep a little deeper, and find the absolute beauty in this difficult season, knowing there’s someone else fighting by your side.
